Team Kiditude Runs the Autism Speaks 5k

September 28, 2013 - Team Kiditude ran in the Autism Speaks 5k this weekend in Long Branch, NJ. One of our team placed 9th out of almost 300 runners and finished in 21:23. Another team member completed the run in 30:14.

If there is a 5k for your cause within a 20 mile radius of Monmouth County, NJ, we would be happy to run for or with you and your loved ones. We can even make up some fun t-shirts!

In 2 weeks, Team Kiditude hits the pavement again. The next run on the schedule is the Step by Step 5k to benefit research on Eosinophilic Gastritis on October 12.

Eosinophilic Gastritis (EG) is a gastrointestinal disease affecting children and adults. Increases in a type of white blood cell causes pain, injury & internal bleeding in the stomach. Malabsorption of vital nutrients results. The cause is unknown due to minimal research and lack of funding.

Although Team Kiditude participates in qualifying 'races' from time to time, these benefit 'runs' are meant for the everyday individual. You can do it too!

"It's not how fast you finish but that you finish," stated Laura from Team Kiditude. "Put yourself through a test, physically and mentally. Recognize that the people for which you run, go every day of their lives feeling that 'test' you'll feel for less than an hour. You may want to give up at times. Don't. You'll be very proud and surprised at what you can achieve when you decide the only option is to run all the way to the finish line. Every time I want give up, I imagine, what would someone, without the physical capacity to participate in athletics, say to me? They truly can't and I'm fully capable."
